The Record by Recorded Future gives you exclusive, behind-the-scenes access to leaders, policymakers, researchers, and the people in the shadows of the cyber underground. We break news and interview those that matter in the fast-changing field of cybersecurity.
Launched in August 2020, The Record has quickly become one of the leading cybersecurity news publications, read by hundreds of thousands of people each month. You can keep up with our coverage by subscribing to our weekly newsletter, tuning into our podcast, or following us on social media.
Our Values
The Record values the democratization of cyber information, and will endeavor to provide the most news possible to the broadest audience. It is our sincere intent for the majority of our content to remain free to the public, and without a paywall, to the maximum extent possible.
Truth, Accuracy, and Accountability – The publication will always endeavor to cover stories as accurately as possible, and will use reasonable efforts to update any stories that are found to be inaccurate with the appropriate disclosure.
Independence – Although The Record is owned by security intelligence firm Recorded Future, it is a separate entity that operates as an editorially independent news organization. It is distinct from Recorded Future’s other commercial activities, and there are extensive policies in place to assure that there is the appropriate segregation between the two organizations.
Fairness and Impartiality – The Record reports stories objectively and in a balanced manner. Fairness and impartiality is premised on the strict separation between Recorded Future’s commercial and media operations.
Responsibility – The Record will make a reasonable effort to contact the parties it reports on as appropriate, will adequately respect concerns they may have, and will seek to reasonably include their comments in stories. As a cybersecurity publication, The Record will aspire to follow responsible disclosure practices whereby an effort is made to balance preventing unnecessary exploitation of reported vulnerabilities, and adequately publicizing such matters so the maximum number of people can protect themselves.

She previously served on NPR’s Investigations team focusing on breaking news stories and national security, technology, and social justice and hosted and created the award-winning Audible Podcast “What Were You Thinking.”

Sean Powers is a senior producer for the Click Here podcast. He came to the The Record from the Scripps Washington Bureau, where he was the lead producer of "Verified," an investigative podcast. Previously, he was in charge of podcasting at Georgia Public Broadcasting in Atlanta, where he helped launch and produced about a dozen shows.
